Autumn Gold

At the start of September, the Boreal landscape is beginning to undergo a transformation. The surrounding landscape is in a transitional period when the last of the summer green's turn yellow. Bear’s appear on the swamps and in the forests earlier than in summer, competing for food in the lead up to hibernation. The area is a jostling ground for big males, as well as smaller male and female bears, and bear activity is at its peak.

During Mid-September, the surrounding landscape is now awash with colour, decorated in its vivid autumn ensemble. Mid to late Autumn is the prime season to observe bear cubs, which venture into the area alongside their mothers in search of food. Autumn offers some of the most unique photographic opportunities, as the light richness and surrounding colours intensify, especially during sunrise and sunset. On clear, dark autumn evenings, mist can form above the swamps followed by harsh morning frost. As September progress and the nights get longer, the superb glow of the Aurora Borealis is often visible.
